Types of Insurance Adjusters
Types of Insurance Adjusters: Homeowners and business owners do you need help with your insurance claim? If so, you must be sure to seek the correct insurance adjuster! An “insurance adjuster” actually works for the insurance company. When you are searching on the internet for insurance help, be sure to search for a “public adjuster.” A public adjuster works for the insured, otherwise known as the policyholder. The public adjuster fights the insurance company to ensure you, the policyholder, are fully compensated for your loss or damages. Many policyholders also make the mistake of searching for an “independent adjuster” because the term “independent adjuster” may lead a policyholder to believe the independent adjuster is independent of the insurance company. On the contrary, the independent adjuster is an independent contractor who works for several different insurance companies on their behalf. The independent adjuster represents the insurance companies’ interest; and the insurance adjuster or staff adjuster is employed by and works directly for the insurance company. All three types of adjusters must be licensed by the state. “Public adjusters” are required to be bonded and maintain continued education requirements.
There are three types of Insurance Adjusters
INSURANCE ADJUSTER or STAFF ADJUSTER: Is an employee of the insurance company who represents the interests of the insurance company, not yours!
INDEPENDENT ADJUSTER: Is an independent service provider who works for and represents the insurance company.
PUBLIC ADJUSTER: Is hired by the policyholder on a contingency basis to fight for the policyholder’s rights and interests.
